Banana, Yogurt and Matcha Smoothie

The holidays have come and pass – and I hope they were wonderful for you and yours! As a foodies, Thanksgiving is a prime holiday for me. So much cooking baking and decorating. You know what’s not great though? The aftermath. Read: the food baby that you still sometimes feel days later. Enter: this delicious beauty.

This smoothie is a great way to get a bunch of vitamins, minerals and proper caffeination while also filling your belly well through the morning. Plus, it tastes UH-mazing – very banana flavored – unlike what you’d think something this color would taste like. It’s one of my favorite (and easiest) smoothies yet!

Banana, Yogurt and Matcha Smoothie


  • Approx. 6 ice cubes
  • 1 banana (or 2 if you want extra potassium, thickness and/or flavor)
  • 1/2 cup Fage Total 0% Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp of matcha (a.k.a. caffeine!)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Add the ingredients to the blender in the order above, pausing after you’ve added the ice. Blend the cubes first with a high, ice crushing setting so the cubes don’t block the blades from the soft ingredients. Then add the banana(s), yogurt and matcha, topping off with the almond milk.

Blend everything together with a puree or whip setting until fully mixed and frothy. Grab your favorite colorful straw and enjoy!


Bananas are rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium and more. They’re an all-around MVP in the healthy eating game.

Greek yogurt is an amazing probiotic that promotes good digestive health – goodbye food baby – and boosts your immune system. Like all yogurt, it’s also rich with zinc, and vitamins B6 and B12.

Matcha is green tea but with exponentially more benefits than its leafy form. It’s an incredible source of antioxidants which translates to beautiful, healthy skin. In the long run its also great for your metabolism and aids in burning calories; I can’t rave enough about this super food! Almond milk is heart healthy, which is my favorite of its traits. It’s known to reduce risk of heart disease and strengthen your bones, which is music to an athlete’s ears. It’s also a great source of dairy-free calcium, so great for anyone who is lactose-free (speaking of which, you can try this recipe with a lactose-friendly yogurt substitute). Unsweetened almond milk in particular is very diabetic-friendly as well.
