This is the fastest I’ve ever gulped down my Shakeology, for sure. Not because I was doubled over from exhaustion, or starving or anything extreme, but I think it simply because my muscles were well-worked and craving a refuel like never before.
80 Day Obsession is definitely not a starter program (unless you’re a body builder, but tbh, there are probably no body builders reading this). You’ll work your way up to it. Maybe it takes a few programs, or even just one to get you back in the saddle. I really love and recommend the path I took. I’ve seen great progress so far, which is leading to great results.
How’d I get here?
I started with 21 Day Fix on July 9, an excellent beginner-intermediate level program that focuses on a different muscle group each day of the week, including an active recovery day on Sunday (yoga!). I lost more than 6lbs [noticeably], toned up a good deal, and had actually squeezed all 21 of my workouts in an 18-day window because it was cutting into my bachelorette weekend. After an amazing few days of vacationing with my best gals it was hard both mentally and a little physically to get back in the game. I came home Sunday afternoon and still took Monday off from working out.
Which reminds me, it’s also really important to know that there’s nothing wrong with rest. If your body is screaming for you to take the day off, listen to it. It’s not the craziest thing in the world to be a day behind, or doubling up workouts on occasion – though I don’t recommend making doubling up a habit as you level up to more intense programs.
Once I got back in the saddle the Tuesday after my big weekend, I started A Little Obsessed, which by design, is an intro to 80 Day Obsession. I really recommend doing this 5-day program to see how you feel about taking on a similar 80-day commitment. At first I was a little nervous thinking it was going to be super hard, but quickly realized I was still just a little exhausted from my weekend (oh yes, we went harrrrd).
But by today, day 1 of 80 Day Obsession, there were no doubts. I talked to my coach and team in our Facebook group, and other Beachbody-ers who had great feedback and advice on doing the program in the amount of time I had until my wedding. Side note: 80DO is actually a little more than 80 days due to rest days. I asked everyone if it would be too hard, if I could double up workouts, etc. and I came to the conclusion that I needed to just do it. I kept asking and talking about it – like total word vomit – so I decided to go for it. If I don’t finish before my wedding, and I’m 99% sure I won’t, because doubling up that much would be silly, that’s okay. I’ll finish when I get back. The results will still be incredible for my wedding and honeymoon, and I’ll have a solid 2 weeks of rebooting my good habits before the program is over once I’m home again.
Feeling day before Day 1: Am I going to die? Am I biting off more than I can chew?
Feeling after completing Day 1: Okay, I can do this. It’s the right amount of push and I’ll absolutely make it, even if I have to modify here and there. Also, I was even doing pushups in decent form..who am I??
I’m thrilled that Beachbody is really working for me. My coach will tell you I was hesitant to commit at first. With a wedding and how costly that process is I wasn’t sure I could spend the money to get going. Looking back, that was the best $180 I’ve spent in a long time. While that seems like a lot, most of it is either a one-time or annual expense. Of that, $99 was for Beachbody on Demand for 1 year, and is only an annual cost. The rest went towards my challenge pack (of which I’ve used the items in one or both programs so far – well worth it) and my first month of Shakeology (which is usually $125 by itself, if you’re not a coach) so it was not only well worth it to try, but is proving to be a very worthy investment.
Are you seeing results?
Seeing AND feeling, thankyouverymuch. Something hilarious, though? We were helping Kev move his brother last weekend and he said my arms are noticeably toned, and that he would be on his best behavior now, haha! Really though, it’s cool that he noticed without me asking, though. That tells me that what I’m feeling is actually showing, which is also an amazing feeling. I haven’t been drinking coffee or sugary Starbucks refreshers either (on a regular basis..you better believe I still treat myself about once a week) because I’ve been taking Beachbody Energize Pre-Workout in the morning before my workout. That little 8oz glass of lemon flavored water truly carries me through my day just the same, if not better than any refreshers have. Not to mention I have good, healthy energy for my workout first thing in the morning.
I stand by my word.
I’m not trying to make a business of Beachbody, but I am technically a coach. If you need somewhere to try or buy products and aren’t looking for any sort of further structure, I got you. However, if you’re looking for a really supportive group (or if you’re like me, and need somewhere to ask a million questions to people who’ve done it before), I also got you. Shoot me an email.

I’ll be checking in after Phase 1 of 80 Day Obsession to give you all the skinny (pun intended). Until then, happy burning!
