The Beginning of Beachbody

I wasn’t planning on writing about this program until I was done, but as I was thinking about it, I reminded myself that I started my blog to share good with people. Good food, good recipes, good ideas – how to make people’s lives easier, happier and more efficient. That’s the real goal here. So it seems silly looking back that I wouldn’t share this ‘good’ as soon as I saw it (and while that was basically day 1, I have be sure I’m not promoting something without a tried-and-true test drive, to be sure I really stand behind it). I’m on day 10 and there’s never been a question, I stand behind Beachbody.

That being said, I want to take a moment to say that this blog is not turning into a Beachbody/fitness blog. This is just one of the many great things I’ve found to share. And if it ends up helping you too, that makes it even more worth the while.

The Beginning of Beachbody

What’s so great about Beachbody?

I’ve seen SO much progress and change in my first 10 days that I felt the need to sit down and write this post last night to share first thing this morning. Because it’s that good.

After 10 days on one of the ‘beginner’ level courses, 21 Day Fix, I’m already down 5lbs. FIVE POUNDS. Honestly, where has this been all my life?! This is after just half of one of the lower tier programs. I can’t even imagine what a longer, more intense program can do for me.

21 Day Fix came at a perfect time, too. Have something coming up in the next 3 weeks and want to drop weight and/or tone? This program WILL do that for you. I started 21DF 2 1/2 weeks before my bachelorette and I already look and feel better. I can’t wait to vacay with my girls in my new body and mindset!

What are you allowed to eat on Beachbody?

Whatever you want. Seriously. It’s not meant to be super restricting but rather keep you on a generally healthy path. This is why this program really works for me. I’ve talked before about how I’m not a fan of very restricting diets, so initially I was nervous to get on any sort of plan, but I’m glad I did my homework and signed up.

When you buy your first challenge pack you get all of the resources you need. It’s not even a ton of stuff – because Beachbody isn’t about frills, it’s about results – you get a set of containers that help you portion your food groups out. I use my containers as a guide for how much I should be eating without actually filling up the containers; just looking at them helps me visualize what I’m allowed for the meal/day.

Beachbody’s Preworkout is replacing sugary morning drinks

I haven’t once even thought about going to Starbucks while working from home since I started this program. There’s a small amount of caffeine in the Energize Preworkout mix that gets you moving and keeps you going after. I’ve only been to Starbucks twice in two weeks and that was because I went into the office those mornings instead of working out first. That’s also (shamefully) a savings of about $45 right there. Which is just slightly less than how much 30 days’ worth of the preworkout costs. I’m not only kicking sugary drinks, I’m saving money, and I’m here for that.

The Beginning of Beachbody

Shakeology – It’s amazing.

If you’ve seen a bunch of posts on your feeds about how *amazing* Shakeology is, that’s because it IS amazing. You just have to try it for yourself if you’re on the fence. While it might look like just any ole’ shake, it’s packed with all kinds of amazing super foods to keep you full and healthy. No, it’s not a ‘protein shake’, though there is protein in the mix. The base of the mix is the super foods, protein is merely a supporting role in this one.

What flavors of Shakeology are there?

Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Cafe Latte and Greenberry. All of these flavors come in a vegan variety except for Greenberry. To read more about each flavor or get some samples, check out the Shakeology section of my Beachbody Store.

What do you drink with your shake?

Personally, I have one go-to recipe for my chocolate Shakeology but there are limitless options out there, for all of the flavors. Fruits and veggies are the most popular add-ins because they’re healthy and mix well with most of the flavors. There are thousands of recipes online for inspo. Once I’ve had the chance to try more flavors I may compile some recipes of my own. But for now, I encourage you to get creative with these common Shakeo add-ins:

  • banana
  • strawberry
  • blueberry
  • light yogurt
  • matcha
  • cinnamon
  • kale/spinach/other greens
  • almond/coconut/soy milk
Do you need Shakeology to do the Beachbody workouts?

You can start your program without the Shakeology, I did, and instead made delicious fruit smoothies after my workouts for the first few days. When you sign up you’ll have immediate access to your Beachbody On Demand (BOD) workouts and can start your program literally right then and there, and your shakes will arrive in a few days.

You can also buy the Shakeology without the BOD or vice versa, which is what I originally thought about doing, but I’m incredibly thankful I went full steam ahead on both. I can’t imagine having similar results with only 50% of the program.

Why it’s more than worth a shot

I feel stronger. I feel toned. I feel more solid and less flabby. I feel great. After working a full day downtown I walked a mile through Millennium Park, played an hour-long, fast-paced game of softball, walked another half mile to the train and did a 30 minute Beachbody workout immediately when I got home. I was tired, but I was able to do it. That’s 100% because the previous 8 days started me on the right track. I got up the next day and did a 30-minute Barre legs workout first thing, too. I feel unstoppable. And to me, that’s priceless.

While I’m not actively looking to build a team, at least until after my wedding in October, I’m a Beachbody Coach and would love to help anyone interested get more information. Everyone deserves to feel this good. Email me, visit my Coach Homepage or my Beachbody Store for more info. If you want it, sweat for it!
