Valentine’s Day ‘Love Shake’

Puns all intended.

vday love shake new ft

Shake up your vday dinner with a simple, festive homemade milkshake.

Whether you are going out for a fancy dinner, staying home and cooking a fantastic meal, or even just getting wings at your favorite corner tap like Kevin and I, there’s nothing sweeter than a homemade dessert for or from your Valentine.

  • Vanilla ice cream (or bae’s favorite flavor)
  • 1/4 cup milk (maybe more depending on container size, can also use soy)
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Red food dye
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • Toppings to decorate with i.e. sprinkles, whipped cream, cherries, etc.

Shake Prep

Step one will be melting down your chocolate to a pourable viscosity. Follow instructions to melt according to whatever container you are using, or simmer on low in a small pot on the stove until desired consistency is reached, stirring in red dye and vanilla.

Side note on the little melting cup you see my chocolate in above – it’s from Wilton and it’s a MUST HAVE if you are someone who plans to even make a few melted candy or chocolate treats per year because they’re only $9.99 full price at Michael’s (and I had a 40% off coupon via their app).

Anywho..I melted down the white chocolate chips, red dye, and vanilla combo to a pourable consistency and dripped it all around the inside of the jar. It will harden pretty quickly and remain on the side easily so you can proceed to fill with your delicious shake!

I mixed the vanilla ice cream* and the soy milk in the blender under a nice thick-but-pourable consistency is reached and then poured in the container. From there I topped with whipped cream, some sprinkles and added a matching straw – BOOM. Done.

*use as much as needed to fill the glass that you plan to use, I added more to the blender a few times

Versatility alert: change up the colors and you have yourself a treat for any old holiday! Why limit yourself to one delicious homemade milkshake a year? Add some mint in March, a little flag in July, or some orange and dark chocolate in October.
